February, 23rd 2010 What true legends they were! Their routines and facial expressions told the whole story which puts me in fits of laughter! How marvellous it was for me to watch their movies as a child with my parents! Now i have the dvd collection which my 6 year old son adores and laughs the same way as i did when i was young! Comedy like this is unique and it will always amuse the young and the old forever!!! God bless you STAN as today is the anniversary of your passing! Your films will live forever and create much more joy to many more generations! Adi Bach (EXETER UNITED KINGDOM)
Laurel and Hardy are important to us here at Camp Roberts, in central California. It was here at our Soldier Bowl amphitheater, in June of 1941, that they headlined the first big camp show for soldiers, along with Red Skelton (who would return here soon for basic training himself), Mickey Rooney, Jane Withers, Lupe Valez, and others. A few years ago, the Sons of the Desert chapter of the Laurel and Hardy Appreciation Society helped to stage a show at the Soldier Bowl to commemorate that ground-breaking 1941 show. They were one of the truly great teams of entertainers in world history, and will always be fondly remembered here! Camp Roberts Museum Curator (Paso Robles, CA) |
