The Golden Age of Comedy (1957)
|
|
Two-time Oscar-winning producer Robert Youngson sifted through about a million meters of film to produce this "creme de la comedy," two unique anthologies of master comic scenes, many of them unfamiliar today. Youngson drew his material chiefly from the archives of Mack Sennett and Hal Roach. Highlights of THE GOLDEN AGE OF COMEDY include scenes featuring Laurel & Hardy, Harry Langdon and Charley Chase. Will Rogers in UNCENSORED MOVIES; Ben Turpin in a parody of von Stroheim's THE MERRY WIDOW; excerpts starring legendary screen sirens Carole Lombard and Jean Harlow. |
